U.S. agrees to timetable for UN Gun Ban
The United Nations and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are moving forward with their plan to confiscate your guns.
The United States joined 152 other countries in support of the Arms Trade Treaty Resolution, which establishes the dates for the 2012 UN conference intended to attack American sovereignty by stripping Americans of the right to keep and bear arms.
Working groups of anti-gun countries will begin scripting language for the conference this year, creating a blueprint for other countries when they meet at the full conference.
The stakes couldn’t be higher.
Former United Nation’s ambassador John Bolton has cautioned gun owners about the Arms Trade Treaty and says the UN “is trying to act as though this is really just a treaty about international arms trade between nation states, but there’s no doubt that the real agenda here is domestic firearms control.”
Establishing the dates for the Arms Trade Treaty Conference is just the first step toward their plans for total gun confiscation.

It takes at 67 votes in the Senate to ratify any treaty. It will be impossible to get that unless there is a socialist coup in the legislative branch.
We need to do some real house cleaning. ALL of the current congress and the pretender in chief need to be removed. We need to elect people who can read and understand plain English, who have read and understand the US constitution, and who truly understand who they work for.
This isn’tthe first time around for this treaty. It came up under the Kennedy Administration. It sort of took a back burner to a number of things, including the assassination of JFK and then the Vietnam War (not some police action, a WAR). However, I am not surprised that has reared its ugly head once more. Again, we have to refight the battle that we thought was won — thanks to all of those supposed gun groups that believe in compromise in order to win. You know how you win — you whoop the other guy. We must do that this time — and nothing less will do. The Senate cannot vote on this or they will face a serious loss of seats.

Indiana: The Herald-Times Online Creates Controversy for Gun Owners, Manipulates Concerned Citizens, Then Refuses On-Air Debate
The editors of the Bloomington Herald-Times maintain their First Amendment right to publish private information on Indiana gun owners who exercise their Second Amendment rights, but they refuse to defend their position in a nationally broadcast debate on the Fox News Channel.
Two weeks after the release of their Indiana gun permit database, Bloomington Herald-Times editors were contacted by producers at the Fox News Channel to explain their editorial decision to a national audience. Fox News intended to set up a debate between the newspaper and an Indiana resident affected by their action.
The paper’s editors refused to come on television, deciding instead to send a written statement and allow the Brady Campaign to speak on their behalf.
“Our purpose was to provide public information we believed people would be interested in…we have databases for property buyers and sellers, restaurants that have been inspected, public salaries and more…we don’t believe we are treating them like criminals,” Bob Zaltsberg, Herald-Times Editor.
If the gun database does not effectually characterize gun owners as dangerous menaces to Indiana society, why does the country’s number one gun control organization defend the paper by dishonestly accusing Indiana’s “Shall Issue” Right-to-Carry system of being ineffective at preventing criminals from obtaining permits?
Why does the Brady Campaign echo the newspaper’s earlier defense as committing a “public service” with the false assertion that “people with concealed carry permits often commit very violent crimes”?
The Herald-Times Online has not honestly defended their position, as they falsely accused your NRA of manipulation and fear-mongering. Now they cannot withstand the public scrutiny and the Brady Campaign stepped in to take up their fight.

I agree, you have to contact your Senators because it takes 67 to ratify any treaty. The easiest way I found is to go to their website, they all have one, put your message in the contact section and fire away. Most use their last name.senate.gov but you can google and find it. I usually copy text from alerts like above and paste in the comment section. I bug mine almost weekly about stuff I want them to pay attention to. They read them because I have gotten responses. Don’t let them mess with our 2nd Amendment rights. Amen.
I’m with Laura Warburton. I’m a freedom loving second amendment supporter, but this report seems overblown for the purpose of raising funds. They raise the question I have, how would ratification of a foreign treaty somehow negate a freedom guaranteed by our Constitution? I have no doubt that Hillary and Obama would love to strike down the second amendment, but I think the threat behind the UN Small Arms Treaty is to those who manufacture and ship arms. I think these questions deserve a clarification here on your blog, not just a quick comment.

The possibility that any of our current administration would even consider this, is a gross disregard for the constitution. In my opinion, when legislation is presented which directly violates constitutional dogma, it is a reflection of the mind and will of anyone who presents or supports them. Perhaps anyone wishing to obtain political office (and prior to any election by the people) should be required to complete a constitution questionnaire and publish the answers on all political advertisements or pamphlets so citizens will know who they’re getting. But I digress. Removing the guns from the hands of law abiding citizens, will only ensure that criminals have guns and then our liberties will be gone! (PS. If passed, then the secret service can’t have guns either!)

I think this is a piggyback of the 1997 Inter-American Convention Against the Illicit Manufacturing of and Trafficking in Firearms, Ammunition, Explosives, and other Related Materials which was endorsed by the Organization of American States (OAS) in Latin American. Of course, countries like Venezuela did not ratify it and with good reason; though Chavez does not need to worry about signing any treaties to slow or regulate the number of weapons coming into the country and across borders. He just does what he wants.
One point of contention with these treaties is predictably the involvement of foreign powers in the business of national security and the rule of law in the U.S. If it’s not by way of the ICC or some other international judicial body, our gun rights will at some point be eradicated. These treaties mean to curb how countries modernize and build their military capability but fails to actually protect the people in those countries from violence due to crime or armed conflicts between bordering states.
On a different note, the U.S. signed the Convention but did not ratify it, but we’re not like Venezuela naturally. My problem is that we left the door open for other states, hostile and friendly alike, to stick the proverbial hand in the cookie jar. While other countries build up we’re downsizing, and that includes ‘a well-armed militia.’

The President may sign a Treaty but it must also be ratified by 66 senators. Considering the Big O could not get 60 votes for Healthcare, I doubt that he could get 66 votes for this treaty in question.
Also, even if it did get ratified, it would be a clear violation of the 2nd as quantified by Heller. I really think we have nothing to worry about this.
But what if it was ratified and then deemed not a violation of the 2nd, the political landscape concerning gun control has changed since the O was elected. Five years ago gun control was consdered, by the majority of pro-gun folks, as idiotic crime control policy and a violation of the 2nd. Today, it would be considered THE first step towards TYRANNY and a violation of the 2nd.

Everyone knows why our private ownership of arms by some a necessary imperative of the greedy. The polititians of our forefathers knew all to well why arms ownership needed to be included and a necessary Admentment in our constitution. It had been demonstrated many many times how certain persons, groups and political leaders had wanted to have control over others their lives and the confiscation and removal of arms. This was the most highly selected way for them to have control over all of us called “We The People”. If you don’t believe what a few controling people can do look to your past history and current economy and our involvement in so very many lives of people around the world. Let confiscation happen and we will never see the ends of their demands.

Both the current (rewritten) UN treaty mentioned in this article, AND the American States Treaty on arms mentioned above, are very real, and the subject of continuing attemps by those in power in the US government to disarm us. You fail to understand that the Senate is the only body authorised to retify any international treaty, by a two-thirds vote (67 votes), AND that, once ratified, that treaty with all its provisions SUPERCEDES any US law already in effect. Read your Constitution.
Didn’t we just see sixty six votes in the senate in favour of a “health care” bill seventy percent of Americans DO NOT WANT? Don’t sit there and glibly say they’ll never get 67 votes” on either or these treaties. If one isn’t ratified, the other won yeat may be. These perverts are serious about disarming us. They know they can’t carry both houses with gun control legislation, but if they can sneak these treaties (or even one of them) past 67 Senators, we’ve had it. The ONLY thing we could do then would be to vote those clowns out (generally a great idea anyway) and get a NEW Senate to de-ratify it, thus effectively nullifying its effect on us. If either one does get ratified, though, our right to arms as guaranteed in the Second AMmendment would be gone, subjugated to foreign powers. Certainly an abdication of our sovereignty as a nation. And, I should think, more than adequate grounds for the impeachment of all who promoted it.
But, as we saw with our present Secretary of State’s husband, GROUNDS for impeachment and IMPEACHMENT are two very different things.
Write your senators, keep writing them. Check their voting records and if they’re not pro gun, work to send them to the unemployment lines next November. Did anyone of you stop to think that “67″ Senators adopt unconstitutional laws every time they are in session? Do not think it is impossible that they will sign this treaty. And really, some of you need to crack open your never read constitution and read up on the treaty powers.
Nevertheless, treaties do NOT make the constitution null and void as the constitution IS the Supreme Law of the land.
