Chicago Mayor Offers Strict Gun Rules
Despite the Supreme Court’s ruling in McDonald v. Chicago, the city of Chicago will continue to be hostile territory for gun owners. Chicago Mayor Richard Daley is working to impose some of the most draconian gun control laws in the nation.
CHICAGO (AP) — With the city’s gun ban certain to be overturned, Mayor Richard Daley on Thursday introduced what city officials say is the strictest handgun ordinance in the United States.
The measure, which draws from ordinances around the country, would ban gun shops in Chicago and prohibit gun owners from stepping outside their homes, even onto their porches or garages, with a handgun.
The ordinance, which Daley urged the City Council to pass, also would :
– Limit the number of handguns residents can register to one per month and prohibit residents from having more than one handgun in operating order at any given time.
– Require residents in homes with children to keep them in lock boxes or equipped with trigger locks.
– Require prospective gun owners to take a four-hour class and one-hour training at a gun range. They would have to leave the city for training because Chicago prohibits new gun ranges and limits the use of existing ranges to police officers. Those restrictions were similar to those in an ordinance passed in Washington, D.C., after the high court struck down its ban two years ago.
– Prohibit people from owning a gun if they were convicted of a violent crime, domestic violence or two or more convictions for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Residents convicted of a gun offense would have to register with the police department.
– Calls for the police department to maintain a registry of every handgun owner in the city, with the names and addresses to be made available to police officers, firefighters and other emergency responders.
Somewhere on down the line there will of corse be more challenges to illegal gun laws like Chicago’s ( Village Idiot ) Mayor Daley and after a while the justice system is going to recognize the mayor Daleys of the US are just another type of frivolous lawsuit and get real tired of the nations jerks like him.
It may take awhile but it will happen.
Just like the current administration, it’s morons like this that think they’re smarter than us average folks and think they know what is best for the serfs that they are lording over.
This just re-inforces my decision to move out of Illinois back in ’82. Daley is a perfect example of a tyrant, in so much as he has tried to enact these new and stricter gun laws. He reminds me of the kid on the playground that wants to make up new rules for the game because he was the one that brought the ball! When are you Sheeple in Illinois going to grow some and oust these kind of politicians running your state? And by the way, we don’t appreciate your throw aways we find in Washington today. Call that fool back home we can do without him and his Chicago cronies! Travel a little bit , or pick up a telephone and call friends in different states and find out what true freedoms are. Especially the freedoms detailed in the 2nd ammendment!
When are the people of Chicago going to rememeber this corrupt Mayor who has all the armed protection he need but wants to take away the right of the people to keep and bear arms for their own protection. They must VOTE DALEY OUT!
Take away ALL guns used by the security for these Communists. Remove the guns from Daley’s bodyguards, Secret Service ( especially Michelle’s and her children) Bloomberg’s and every other anti gun Communist destroying this Country. Oh how these cowards would cry. Wake up America!
