Mayor opposed to guns and civil rights
Cedric Glover, Mayor of Shreveport Lousiana believes he and his jackbooted thugs state police have the authority to wantonly violate your civil rights.
Mayor Glover believes that his brownshits state police have authority to “suspend” your rights.

Any time a motorist is stopped by a police officer, insists Shreveport, Louisiana Mayor Cedric Glover, “Your rights … have been suspended.” This includes not only the freedom of movement, but also, in the event the officer inquires as to whether the driver is carrying a weapon, “Your right to be able to hold on to your weapon and say whether [you] have a weapon or not” — as well as the right to retain possession of that weapon, should the officer decide to confiscate it from you.
Should you choose not to answer the question, or answer it in the negative, the officer could still choose, “in the interest of officer safety, to secure you in a safe position” — this most likely means outside the car with your hands cuffed behind your back — “and then do an appropriate inspection of your vehicle.”
The phrase “appropriate inspection” is more honestly rendered “Unconstitutional” warrantless search.”
Should the police officer then turn up a firearm or other weapon in the car, the driver “would be guilty or potentially guilty of even a more severe offense” than whatever he had allegedly done to precipitate the traffic stop, according to Mayor Glover. Police officers, according to Glover, are invested with “a power that the President of the United States does not have … and that is the ability to be able to suspend your rights.”
This is “one of the things that I say to each and every one of the police officers who graduates from the Shreveport Police Academy since I’ve been mayor.” Fortunately for the public, one supposes, Mr. Glover remembers the lesson that Peter Parker learned from his kindly and sagacious uncle Ben — that is, with great power comes great responsibility.”You have to understand there is a great deal of power that is vested within … the law enforcement personnel of this country,” Glover insists. “It’s why there is a great deal of responsibility that has to go along with it.”
Glover offered those remarkable observations, and many others like them, in a recorded phone call with Shreveport resident Robert Baillio
Mr. Baillio had called to complain about a recent traffic stop in which an SPD officer, who– before dealing with any other matter of business — asked if Baillio had a firearm, then temporarily seized it from him.
Louisiana law recognizes the right of the state’s residents to carry loaded weapons in their vehicles, and Baillio has a state-issued concealed carry permit — that is, a piece of paper in which the state generously recognizes one facet of Baillio’s innate right to bear arms.
According to Baillio’s account, he was cordial and polite when he was stopped after supposedly neglecting to use a turn signal. That this was almost certainly a pretext stop is illustrated by the fact that Baillio never received a ticket. Supplemental evidence is offered by the fact that the conversation between the officer and Baillio focused entirely on the issue of gun ownership, including a question about Baillio’s membership in the National Rifle Association.
Glover is a member of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s Mayors Agaisnt Illegal Guns, however it looks like Glover is opposed to all guns.

I would recommend that you file a complaint with the FBI against the Shreveport Police Department for violation of your Civil Rights. I would also contact ATF, who knows maybe they sell these guns to Mexico.
Clearly, Mr. Glover doesn’t want any tourism dollars in his city and must be making zero from potential travelers who will now make sure to GO AROUND Shreveport, if not the whole State.

The day they take my gun away in a routine traffic stop where I told the officer(out of good will)that I had a weapon in the vehicle, is the day that what this country was founded on means nothing. When it comes down to it, they will never take my firearms, no matter the cost.
Ever since hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, and the notoriously law-breaking New Orleans Police illegally confiscated law abiding citizens’ firearms, leftist politicos have been chomping at the bit to force their socialistic views onto the public.

We have come WAY BEYOND what is prescribed by the U.S. Constitution with so called concealed carry laws and other unconstitutional mumbo jumbo about gun laws. The U.S. Constitution is very specific about the right to bear arms—any citizen maintains the right to bear arms (not “concealed”) at any time and any legislation since instigated by the U.S. Congress constitutes a corruption of the U.S. Constitution and the “bill of rights”.
This is just the beginning of many more rights you will loose in the near future. The government is assuming the right of the people to rule our country and this action demonstrates this very well. You now live in the USSA under a man that has not proven that he is a natural born citizen!
Hey, I just sent Mr. Glover an e-mail and he answered me…..at 11:30PM using his .gov e-mail adress. How’s that for using tax payer’s dollars. Didn’t say much. I more or less defended Mr.Baillio’s rights and he refered to my e-mail as a gravitas.
Another fancy word to make someone feel less educated than he is. As though higher education makes up for bad politics. If someone’s willing to use $30 words, you’d think he would have paid attention in US history class as well as excellerated English.
The only other thing I can figure out is we haven’t heard both sides of the story. Mr. Baillio volunterily surrendered his weapon, sounds legal enough if done temporararilly, but yes, it’s fishy if the cop kept it and never returned it.

And to add to my previous protest. This is a perfect example of the fear that the powers that be carry with them. Everyone involved with disarming Mr. Baillio should be ashamed of themselves! The Constitution applies to him just as much as it applies to them! Unfortunately, the pigs don’t get it. Perhaps when THEIR rights are trampled on, they will finally see the light. I hope that day comes real soon so they can see what it feels like to be treated like a lower class citizen same as they have done to Mr. Baillio.
When a legitimate police stop is made, the police would not know if the person they are stopping is a felon or a good guy. I can understand that they would need to know if someone has a permit to conceal a weapon, and for all concerned would want to secure it. However, it seems like this situation was not handled properly and that a formal complaint should be made. Police and those who have or plan on getting a conceal to carry permit, MUST know the law. I hope an investigation takes place and that EVERYONE becomes educated about the laws of carrying a concealed weapon.
The Shreveport Police Department should be removed from public service. I hope voting Shreveport citizens will see that the chain of command is removed from this service.

So the Mayor of Shreveport thinks that his bullyboys are able to suspend Constitutional rights to suit his anti-Second Amendment rights leanings? I can only hope that he and his get sued for every penny they have and he is removed from office. If the police officers did this because they were only “following orders” they and their superiors should lose their jobs for allowing themselves to be a part of violating The Constitution.

I just wanted to know when the FBI plans on investigating this. Because when MISSISSIPPI WAS BURNING due to civil rights being violated, it was all over the news and every person I knew was feeling that justice needed to be served. THIS IS NO DIFFERENT!!!!!!!!!!! We seem to agree that both the Officer who stopped Mr. Baillio, and the Shreveport Mayor who who instructed the Officer acted illegally. Both should be removed from their office, and replaced with candidates who have been thoroughly trained, including passing a course in the meaning of the Constitution of the United States (which should be required instruction for all law officers, and, indeed, all citizens). I was not aware that there are laws which require a CCW licensee to alert a law Officer that he/she has such a license, which seems to me tantamount to saying to the Officer, “Watch out, Officer, I may have a gun.” That’s scary.
Right now, our President and Attorney General, plus the liberal majorities of the House and Senate, are moving quickly to remove arms from all citizens, the Constitution notwithstanding. We’d best begin to make our voices heard in the halls of Congress, and vote to remove from office all those who are bent on disarming us. “Armed Law-Abiding Citizens Are America’s First Line of Defense.”

If we don’t resoundingly change the House and Senate in 2010 by electing true American patriots and run the communists out, Comrade Obama will be unchecked in his destruction of what is left of America and our way of life by then. I think it is time for us all to recognize the gigantic amount of power the police have. It is dangerous when we see opinions from leaders that make good guys a threat to law enforcement. The mind set is that when government takes control of any situation an armed civilian threatens their ability to control. Police fear potentially dangerous situations caused by an armed person in disagreement of what law enforcment officers feel are necessary actions when on scene. What seems to be forgotten is that good guys who have a liscensed, registered weapon and are truthful with law enforcment officers are not a threat.

i think what is paramount here is the mayor believes that “his rights are suspended” due to his being stopped for a “criminal action”. From what i gather, the man was stopped for a routine “traffic violation”, which in reality turned into a racist and/or biased elimination of the man’s constitutional rights. The mayor is obviously a person that is victom of the country’s leftist policies and is a governmental elected official engrained with the three invariable ingredients, i.e. the greed for power, recognition, and money. It is this greed for “power” that leads to his maligned interpretation of law and the constitution. The mayor should not be in a position of authority over others. This is the mentality that harbours the philosophical subscription to what is eminating from Washington now. Americans need to actually see what is happening to thier country. We stand to loose this country to those who would “demote” the common societal person to just “surfs”. They would have us “serve and finance” them while they abuse our rights with impunity and spend OUR dollars with reckless abandonment. If things don’t change soon…certainly the 2nd revolution will soon follow.

God is in charge, but he will not infringe upon the agency he has allowed us, so if we don’t use that agency to protect and defend our rights, that is OUR fault, not His! My 9 year old grandson says his school walls are filled with pictures depicting the glory of a president like Obama, and his friends are defending Obama with joy at the thought that he is going to make life so good for everyone. Guns have been a great part of our family’s life, as they have all enjoyed the seasons of hunting. No one has been killed, maimed, or harmed in anyway, but this is the first time in my life I have ever wished someone would be! How uncharitable I am becoming!
FYI: I just talked to the Mayor’s office–he was not in. A young lady admitted they had received a couple of calls about this issue. She said that the driver had failed to stop at a stop sign (not a turn signal). She also said that the officer followed procedure to take the gun away until he could discern whether it would be a danger to the driver, the officer or bystanders. She gave me a website to go to read “procedures” the officers are to follow. She said the mayor supported his officer. I said it sounded like harrassment to me.

I want you to hear me out. your using the constitution like its absolute law or something. its not to be taken literally come on. the constitution is a fine piece of history that gave us a snap shot of what the culture was like 200 or so years ago. But that was THEN and this is NOW. It’s funny how those that detest guns and citizens gun rights so much are never the ones that actually have the guts to take your gun-they always send someone else. I have been stopped dozens of times and have NEVER divulged that I had a gun and have never been hassled. The best thing any citizen can do is start collecting/buying unregistered guns and don’t keep them at your own house.. A couple safety boxs at different banks are good, as well as self storage units, a trusted friends basement (locked up) sealed in a drum and buried somewhere, etc. They’re coming to take them and some of us will be ready for it. This jackass’s behaviour and attitude is just the tip of a very large iceberg that is slowly floating our way. Prepare Prepare Prepare.

As most of you are probably aware Mr. Obama has desided that all and I quote him as saying ” all US military veterans are and should be considered as trained terrorist that givin a chance would over through the government at any givin time if not carefully regulated.” As a veteran myself, I take affence to this as should all vets. I have known from the start that Obama was not going to try to help the American people. Obama was born in Kenya as a Muslim and Radical and I honestly believe that he hates the American people and he takes delight in doing all he is doing to us. For the life of me I can’t understand why Obama was elected except for the Acorn Voter Fraud gang. Just like this Universal Healthcare crap and how being a senior citizen with some health problems will not get any treatment for my conditions and also have a handicapped daughter and she will not receive treatment for what is wrong with her. I also got an email from one of my coalitions groups and they sent me an email about a video they saw and was on my email that senior citizens did count anyway so it doesn’t matter whether we get treatment. These Radical Communist think that they are going to take over the world and I think they think we aren’t smart enough to see what they are trying to do to us. I was watching Fox News and that is all I watch this afternoon and it was the Neil Cavuto show, but Neil wasn’t on there, but the other financial girl, can’t remember her name, but she said that Walmart had jointed Obama on this Universal Healthcare and is willing to go in together with Obama to get this government run healthcare and if that happens it won’t take long for Obama and his Demon possessed cohorts to take over everything. I did write Walmart this afternoon and told them I would never buy anything else from them and we do need to picket Walmart. What will happen is that Walmart will start raising their prices and letting their employees go in order to be able to afford the Universal Healthcare. It looks like all of these Liberal Radical Communist will do anything to take us down. We have all got to pull together and if you don’t believe in God, now is the time to start believing in him and start praying for our country and I am praying for the Lord to hurry and bring his wrath down on these evil White House gang. Case law (Terry vs. Ohio) gives cops around the nation the authority to come into contact with citizens who are breaking the law, are breaking the law, or are about to break the law. (Traffic stops are a “Terry Stop” of sorts). The case also gives them the authority to conduct a “frisk” of the person if they feel that the person may be armed with a “dangerous weapon”. The case also gives the cops the authority to conduct a “search” of the person if they “know” they are armed with a “dangerous weapon”. You idiots need to go to “youtube” and look up “police get shot on traffic stop” and watch the videos of the officers who get shot by thugs just by walking up to the car. All it takes is watching one video and the rest of you will shut your traps. Oh, and by the way, the crybaby who got stopped can’t sue! His rights were not violated. Early Americans cherished the right to keep and bear arms for several reasons. The rights of the Colonists to possess arms was stated in Revolutionary era newspaper articles, such as this statement in 1769:
Instances of the licentious and outrageous behavior of the military conservators of the peace still multiply upon us, some of which are of such nature, and have been carried to such lengths, as must serve fully to evince that a late vote of this town, calling upon its inhabitants to provide themselves with arms for their defense, was a measure as prudent as it was legal: such violences are always to be apprehended from military troops, when quartered in the body of a populous city; but more especially so, when they are led to believe that they are become necessary to awe a spirit of rebellion, injuriously said to be existing therein. It is a natural right which the people have reserved to themselves, confirmed by the Bill of Rights, to keep arms for their own defence; and as Mr. Blackstone observes, it is to be made use of when the sanctions of society and law are found insufficient to restrain the violence of oppression.[22]
John Adams, lead defense attorney for the British soldiers on trial for the Boston Massacre, stated at the trial: “Here every private person is authorized to arm himself, and on the strength of this authority, I do not deny the inhabitants had a right to arm themselves at that time, for their defense, not for offence…”[23]
When Colonists protested British efforts to disarm their militias in the early phases of the American Revolution, colonists cited the Declaration of Rights, Blackstone’s summary of the Declaration of Rights, their own militia laws and common law rights to self-defense. While British policy in the early phases of the Revolution clearly aimed to prevent coordinated action by the militia, there is no evidence that the British sought to restrict the traditional common law right of self-defense.
Thomas B. McAffee and Michael J. Quinlan stated “… Madison did not invent the right to keep and bear arms when he drafted the Second Amendment—the right was pre-existing at both common law and in the early state constitutions.”[24] In contrast, historian Jack Rakove suggests that Madison’s intention in framing the Second Amendment was to provide assurances to moderate Anti-Federalists that the militias would not be disarmed.[25]
One aspect of the gun control debate is the conflict between gun control laws and the alleged right to rebel against unjust governments. The framers of the Constitution and Bill of Rights sought to balance not just political power, but also military power, between the people, the states and the nation, as Alexander Hamilton explained in 1788:
[I]f circumstances should at any time oblige the government to form an army of any magnitude[,] that army can never be formidable to the liberties of the people while there is a large body of citizens, little, if at all, inferior to them in discipline and the use of arms, who stand ready to defend their own rights and those of their fellow-citizens.[26][27]
Some scholars have said that it is absurd to read any right of revolution in the Second Amendment, while other scholars contend that the framers did believe in such a right. The latter scholars point, for example, to the 1794 Tennessee constitution which stated: “the doctrine of non-resistance to arbitrary power and oppression is absurd, slavish, and destructive of the good and happiness of mankind.”[28

The Constitution and Bill of Rights is WHY we have a free country and it is being taken away from us by people that think and believe just like you do. Note to all you koolaid drinkers out there; how about instead of destroying this country and everything it once stood for, why don’t you just move to Saudi Arabia or Africa or Iran or any of the fine banana boat republics around the planet. History has a great track record of repeating itself, and once freedom is lost it is only reclaimed at a very high price.
