Mayor opposed to guns and civil rights
Cedric Glover, Mayor of Shreveport Lousiana believes he and his jackbooted thugs state police have the authority to wantonly violate your civil rights.
Mayor Glover believes that his brownshits state police have authority to “suspend” your rights.
From the blog Pro Libertate:
Any time a motorist is stopped by a police officer, insists Shreveport, Louisiana Mayor Cedric Glover, “Your rights … have been suspended.” This includes not only the freedom of movement, but also, in the event the officer inquires as to whether the driver is carrying a weapon, “Your right to be able to hold on to your weapon and say whether [you] have a weapon or not” — as well as the right to retain possession of that weapon, should the officer decide to confiscate it from you.
Should you choose not to answer the question, or answer it in the negative, the officer could still choose, “in the interest of officer safety, to secure you in a safe position” — this most likely means outside the car with your hands cuffed behind your back — “and then do an appropriate inspection of your vehicle.”
The phrase “appropriate inspection” is more honestly rendered “Unconstitutional” warrantless search.”
Should the police officer then turn up a firearm or other weapon in the car, the driver “would be guilty or potentially guilty of even a more severe offense” than whatever he had allegedly done to precipitate the traffic stop, according to Mayor Glover. Police officers, according to Glover, are invested with “a power that the President of the United States does not have … and that is the ability to be able to suspend your rights.”
This is “one of the things that I say to each and every one of the police officers who graduates from the Shreveport Police Academy since I’ve been mayor.” Fortunately for the public, one supposes, Mr. Glover remembers the lesson that Peter Parker learned from his kindly and sagacious uncle Ben — that is, with great power comes great responsibility.”You have to understand there is a great deal of power that is vested within … the law enforcement personnel of this country,” Glover insists. “It’s why there is a great deal of responsibility that has to go along with it.”
Glover offered those remarkable observations, and many others like them, in a recorded phone call with Shreveport resident Robert Baillio
Mr. Baillio had called to complain about a recent traffic stop in which an SPD officer, who– before dealing with any other matter of business — asked if Baillio had a firearm, then temporarily seized it from him.
Louisiana law recognizes the right of the state’s residents to carry loaded weapons in their vehicles, and Baillio has a state-issued concealed carry permit — that is, a piece of paper in which the state generously recognizes one facet of Baillio’s innate right to bear arms.
According to Baillio’s account, he was cordial and polite when he was stopped after supposedly neglecting to use a turn signal. That this was almost certainly a pretext stop is illustrated by the fact that Baillio never received a ticket. Supplemental evidence is offered by the fact that the conversation between the officer and Baillio focused entirely on the issue of gun ownership, including a question about Baillio’s membership in the National Rifle Association.
Glover is a member of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s Mayors Agaisnt Illegal Guns, however it looks like Glover is opposed to all guns.
You hear the entire audio of Mr. Baillio’s conversation with Mayor Glover here.

we have not seen anything yet. This is only the beginning. deal with the cops any where and just see if iam right or not.I own a nightclub and put up with this
stuff every nite.
I have no idea how I get on the NRA email list, but this is somewhat hilarious. I’m from North Carolina and I love my guns as much as the next person, but take a step back and really think about how absurd it is to tie the idea of liberty to the ability to carry a loaded weapon. I have to hope that we have higher aspirations.
The Mayor is full of s***. The situation as described had no warrant for the action taken by the officer. While I DO support profiling as a law enforcement tool, in this case it was purely a harrassment. Here in Colorado I have been pulled over for traffic violations a couple times, with my firearm in the vehicle. In each case, I keep my hands in plain view, hand over my ID etc, usually they will ask if you have a weapon, to which I reply “Yes and an Arapahoe County permit.” They then go back to their car, do their thing with checks etc and at the end the officer involved thanks me for my cooperation – unless of course you volunteer by offering a problem. They are proffessional in their conduct in my experience. Shreveport sounds like its run by the liberal mob, or totalitarian regime.
I can relate. My weapons, some of which I’ve owned for 15 years in Arizona where I was a correctional officer were confiscated after moving to New York. I am required to pay a lot of money to the State of New York (surprise-not) and then see if a judge thinks I am fit to own them before I can get them back. The police say after a year my weapons will be labeled a nuisance and they will keep them. Funny how it usually takes more than a year for the state to approve a weapons permit if they do at all. I guess it’s okay to carry weapons when I’m protecting these law makers against criminals.
I’ve had a carry permit in Michigan for over 30 years, and never have had a problem with law enforcement. When pulled over by an officer, and you have given the officer the required paperwork, ie… Driver’s Lic, Car Registration, and proof of insurance; you are required to inform the officer that you are in possesion of a loaded firearm, either in the car or on your person. At that time, hand him your Permit to Carry, and he will ask you where the weapon is located. This is for his or her protection, after telling them the location, I’ve never had an officer do anything other than the proper thing, ie. run a LEIN on me, give me a ticket or warning, and I’m on my way. I would suppose that if I were drinking, or the officer had a reason to believe that I was impaired by drugs, I would be asked to surrender my weapon, which would be proper… It sounds like that particular area has a problem…
The Mayor of Shreveport behaving almost like the Mayor of San Francisco. Who elects these petty despots? This guy and the police officer should be sued for violation of state law (if I understand it correctly) and 2nd amendment rights. That’s the language they speak and it’s probably a language they could understand if they were given a bill for large damages. Voting them out of office at the next opportunity might be more effective and less time consuming. But either way — they need a pushback.
This mentality has got to change. We have rights and we must know our rights. That is part of the problem, we don’t even know all our own rights and laws. Always being taught that policeman are good and will be on your side if you aren’t breaking the law, huh, guess not in Shreveport. I try to see both sides, but Basillio was trying to cooperate and look where it gets him, he was violated. It’s dispicable and unconstitutional.
So, should we be driving around with Pro-gun bumper stickers? Do the stickers really change a persons mind? Do you think a liberal anti-gunner is going to change his mind about firearms when he sees the vehicle in front of him displaying a NRA sticker? I think not. We all make mistakes from time to time, but don’t you know the first time I cut someone off accidentally or forget to signal while displaying a “Pro-Gun” sticker(s) the liberal behind me will only be more convinced he is right and “Pro-gun nuts” surely can’t be trusted with a gun if they can’t even drive! And the Cop that pulls me over has good reason to believe I am carrying, and if he is like the cop from the story above, he is only using the minor traffic violation as an excuse to search for a gun anyways.
Sometimes it might be better to just blend in a bit and do our “advertising” to the world by educating ourselves on our rights and for whom to vote for when an election comes around. A sticker is not going to change our country but an educated vote will.
Seems liked there is a little Cesear sitting on his throne in the deep south flexing his muscles. To the good folks of Shreveport I urge you to remove this fat buzzard from office at the earliest possibility lest you suffer even more violations of your Constitutional rights. We are seeing the beginning folks of Obama mentality starting to infect elected offices. Let’s not allow this to go on. Keep ‘em loaded, available and defend your rights. Obey the law as long as they respect your rights as a citizen. When they violate the law they should expect to be violated as well. That’s my piece for now.
The action involved is heinous beyond imagination. It constitues a blatant violation of a fundamental right.
The asinine confiscation and then insulting remarks by a Governor go way beyond the minimal protection
that every citizen has a right to expect. All of the officials involved have proven only that they are mindless
thugs. We can only hope that the courts that will become involved are sane and responsible.
HATS OFF TO CHARLIE DANIELS….AT LEAST HE HAS THE COURAGE
TO SPEAK HIS MIND!!!
I don’t know how everybody else feels about it, but to me I think Hispanic
people in this country, legally or illegally, made a huge public relations
mistake with their recent demonstrations.
I don’t blame anybody in the world for wanting to come to the United States
of America , as it is a truly wonderful place.
But when the first thing you do when you set foot on American soil is illegal
it is flat out wrong and I don’t care how many lala land left heads come out
of the woodwork and start trying to give me sensitivity lessons.
I don’t need sensitivity lessons, in fact I don’t have any-thing against Mexicans!
I just have something against criminals and anybody who comes into this country illegally is a criminal and if you don’t believe it try coming into America from a
foreign country without a passport and see how far you get. What disturbs me
about the demonstrations is that it’s tanta-mount to saying, “I am going to come
into your country even if it means breaking your laws and there’s nothing you
can do about it.”.
It’s an “in your face” action and speaking just for me, I don’t like it one little bit
and if there were a half dozen pairs of gonads in Washington bigger than English
peas it wouldn’t be happening.
Where are you, you bunch of lily livered, pantywaist, forked tongued, sorry excuses
for defenders of The Constitution? Have you been drinking the water out of the
Potomac again? And even if you pass a bill on immigration it will probably be
so pork laden and watered down that it won’t mean anything anyway Besides,
what good is another law going to do when you won’t enforce the ones on the
books now?
And what ever happened to the polls, guys?
I thought you folks were the quintessential finger wetters. Well you sure ain’t
paying any attention to the polls this time because somewhere around eighty
percent of Americans want some thing done about this mess, and mess it is
and getting bigger everyday.
This is no longer a problem, it is a dilemma and headed for being a tragedy.
Do you honestly think that what happened in France with the Muslims can’t
happen here when the businesses who hire these people finally run out of
jobs and a few million disillusioned Hispanics take to the streets?
If you, Mr. President, Congressmen and Senators, knuckle under on this and
refuse to do something meaningful it means that you care nothing for the kind
of country your children and grand-children will inherit. But I guess that doesn’t
matter as long as you get re-elected.
Shame on you.
One of the big problems in America today is that if you have the nerve to say
anything derogatory about any group of people (except Christians) you are going
to be screamed at by the media and called a racist, a bigot and anything else they
can think of to call you.
Well I’ve been pounded by the media before and I’m still rockin’ and rollin’ and
when it comes to speaking the truth I fear not.
And the truth is that the gutless, gonadless, milksop politicians are just about to
sell out the United States of America because they don’t have the intestinal fortitude
to stand up to face reality.
And reality is that we would never allow any other group of people to have 12
million illegal in this country and turn around and say, “Oh it’s ok, ya’ll can stay
here if you’ll just allow us to slap your wrist.”
And I know that some of you who read this column are saying “Well what’s
wrong with that?”
I’ll tell you what’s wrong with it. These people could be from Mars as far as we
know. We don’t know who they are, where they are or what they’re up to and the
way the Congress is going we’re not going to.
Does this make sense? Labor force you say? We already subsidize corporate agriculture as it is, must we subsidize their labor as well?
If these people were from Haiti would we be so fast to turn a blind eye to them or
if they were from Somalia, or Afghanistan ?
How about the foreign Nationals who are taking over simply by Repossessing
or buying up all the corporate and political power in these United States?
I think not.
All the media shows us are pictures of hard working Hispanics who have crossed
the border just to try to better their life.
They don’t show you pictures of the Feds rounding up members of MS 13, the
violent gang who came across the same way the decent folks did.
They don’t tell you about the living conditions of the Mexican illegal some fat cat
hired to pick his crop.
I want to make two predictions.
No. 1: This situation is going to grow and fester until it erupts in violence on our
streets while the wimps in Washington drag their toes in the dirt and try to figure
how many tons of political hay they can make to the acre.
No 2: Somebody is going to cross that border with some kind of weapon of mass destruction and set it off in a major American city after which there will be a
backlash such as this country has never experienced and the Capitol building in Washington will probably tilt as Congressmen and Senators rush to the other side
of the issue.
I don’t know about you but I would love to see just one major politician stand up
and say, “I don’t care who I make mad and I don’t care how many votes I lose, this
is a desperate situation and I’m going to lead the fight to get it straightened out.”
I don’t blame anybody for wanting to come to America , but if you don’t respect our immigration laws why should you respect any others?
And by the way, this is America and our flag has stars and stripes Please get that
other one out of my face.
God Bless America
Charlie Daniels
MY COUNTRY IF IT IS YOUR COUNTRY, SPEAK UP!
I am not against immigration – just come through like everyone else
Get a sponsor; have a place to lay your head; have a job; pay your taxes;
live by the rules; and
LEARN THE LANGUAGE
as all other immigrants have in the past and
GOD BLESS AMERICA!
Think about this: If you don’t want to forward this for fear of offending someone,
YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM!
Will we still be the Country of choice and still be America if we continue to make
the changes forced on us by people from other countries who came to live in America
because it is the
Country of Choice?
Think about it!
All we have to say is, when will Someone do something about
MY RIGHTS?
We’ve gone so far the other way, bent over backwards to not offend anyone,
that I am now being offended. But it seems no one has a problem with that.
“In God We Trust” is our national motto.
This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan.
We adopted this motto because Christian men and women – on Christian principles – founded
this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls
of our schools.
It is Time for America to Speak up If you agree – pass this along; if you don’t agree – delete it!
We should all read this at least once a week until November and we “throw the bums out!”
545 vs. 300,000,000
Be you Republican or Democrat, you’ll want to read this short article.
Charley Reese’s articles have prompted more letters to the editor than any of the other Orlando Sentinel columnists in memory and he has sure hit the nail on the head here. 545 vs. 300,000,000 – What in the world happened to us? The article is completely neutral, not anti republican or democrat — just plain ole Charlie. If you do not know, he is retired reporter for the Orlando Sentinel who has been a journalist for 49 years.
Please share this with your friends.

545 VS THE PEOPLE
By Charlie Reese
Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them…Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits? Have you ever wondered if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes? You and I don’t propose a federal budget. The president does. You and I don’t have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.
You and I don’t write the tax code, Congress does.
You and I don’t set fiscal policy, Congress does.
You and I don’t control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.
One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of the 300 million who are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country. I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress.
In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.
I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason… They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a president to do one cotton-picking thing. I don’t care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator’s responsibility to determine how he votes.
Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party. What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits…The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.
The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker Of the House? Nancy Pelosi. She is the leader of the majority party… She and fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.
It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million can not replace 545 people who stand convicted — by present facts — of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can’t think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.
If the tax code is unfair, it’s because they want it unfair.
If the budget is in the red, it’s because they want it in the red…
If the Army & Marines are in IRAQ, it’s because they want them in IRAQ.
If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it’s because they want it that way…
There are no insoluble government problems.
Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power.
Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like “the economy,” “inflation,” or” politics” that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.
Those 545 people and they alone, are responsible.
They and they alone, have the power.
They and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses.
Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees… We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!
STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY? Not a single tax existed 100 years ago, and our nation was the most prosperous in the world. We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.
What in the hell happened? Can you spell ‘politicians?’
And I still have to ‘press 1′ for English!?
I hope this goes around THE USA at least 100 times!!!
YOU can help it get there!!!
GO AHEAD – - – BE AN AMERICAN !!!!
There are at least three violations of our constitutional rights here. I am a retired detective and I find what these cops did as ordered by the mayor to be unconscionable. There is the violation of freedom of speech for the bumper stickers and using that as a basis for pulling the victim over, denying the victim the right to keep and bear a weapon, and illegal search and seizure. I hope this mayor is tried, convicted and sent to jail along with the Gestapo cops that enforce his illegal policy.
i just called the mayors office, spoke w/secretary.she said the gun was not seized.what’s up
I live in Arizona. I have been stopped a couple of times over the years here and this is what happens. I get pulled over for speeding… the officer comes to my window. He asks for my lic. and proof of Ins…I keep my hands on the wheel and tell the officer…”I have a loaded pistol in the truck!” He says…”Are you going to shoot me with it…if not don’t worry about it… it’s your right to carry one with you if you choose…but thank you for letting me know!” Then I get a warning not to speed for 2 weeks or I get a double fine. I sign the warning… we chat then say good bye! We have no robberies here…the only weapon related crimes are drug related for the most part. No one dares to commit a robbery…they don’t know who’s packing or not!!! ROFL
(everyman) how absurd it is to tie the idea of LIBERTY to the ability to carry a loaded weapon-and just how is it that we obtained LIBERTY?
I submitted a comment and its not listed,is there a reason?
I want to know where the ACLU is in this type of situation? If they don’t stand up and fight for this one then THEY are a large part of the problem. Second, why is that Officer still wearing a badge? This Officer should be charged with Abuse of authority!
This is unbelieveable, what country do we live in?I agree with Charles Drapo, this has constitutional rights violation written all over it.I believe the F.B.I. should conduct an investigation. I think the mayor and those police should be the ones going to jail.I didn’t fight in Viet Nam so that some Jabba the Hut looking mayor could take away anyones rights he wants for what ever reason.
There is no provision in the constitution for any temporary suspension of any of the rights of citizens of the United States of America. A “temporary suspension” is a violation of the constitution and it’s clearly intended purpose. The Sherriff is clearly overstepping his authority in violating the civil rights of any individual by requiring the surrender of a weapon in this situation. When a criminal in the process of committing a crime is required to give up his weapon, it is not a violation of his civil rights because he has voluntarily demonstrated the abuse of possession by using it to aid and abet his committing of the crime. Police have the responsibility to disarm anyone misusing a weapon. They do not have the authority to overrule the Constitutional right to bear arms. The Second Amendment and the literature surrounding it showing the intent of the authors and signatories, in fact, suggests that the proper procedure in this situation would have been to arrest the officer for violation of the law and the Mayor for aiding and abetting and co-conspiracy to violate the law.
Liberals are using the police all over our nation to do their dirty work. Many good cops are speaking out in protest, but many others are going along with this and “just doing their job.” Cops need to wake up and realize they’re being made to look like the “bad guys” before we find ourselves in revolt against our police departments instead of against the ones behind all of this: the far-left liberal liars!
what does it take to impeach this @@KLF::G instead of just setting around talking about what to do??????? by the time we get around to impeaching him we won’t have any
rights to do it!!!
The cop had no right to take the gun when the man complied with everything that the cop asked him to. With him standing outside of the car there was no chance of that weapon being used on the cop. THAT IS JUST A COMPLEET DISREGARD FOR THE SECOND AMENDMENT!!
Mayor our forefathers who fought for our Constitutional rights to carry arms, would most certainly see you as a traitor to what they fought and died for.You srred greatly, and you and the city of Shreveport, and the others involved should be sued, and a published apology be tendered to Mr.Baillio.The next time there is an election in the City of Shreveport, vote this mayor,OUT.
Kirk,
Knew the history-Thanks for teaching a few more. It’s great to know another soldier is for the people-waatch it! you might get on the enemies list. Your a potential threat — so sez Pelosi
As for the cop in Lousiana–The Deputies wouldn’t dare-too many
oak trees and everyone has pleanty of rope, that is if they made it to the tree
Mr.Graham,
I send the same message as much as I can. What happened to this man should never -ever happen in the USA.Those that would trample our freedom should surely be hanging from the gibbit
in the market square—That is not what generations fought for.
Our forfathers are rolling in their graves
I find this story very interesting as this same basic sinario just happened to me Delaware Co., Ohio . A deputy runs my drivers license ,and finds I am a former concealed carry permit holder (expired by 3 1/2 years ) so I havent carried since then . The deputy comes back to the vechile that I am in and yells at me ; Do you have a Gun ? I am totally amazed at what I here . And why is he asking this question to me ? Again , DO YOU HAVE A Gun ? I awnser NO, I dont have a gun . I next thing I hear is , Get out of the vehical ! I get out and he searches me and my vehical . I was searched because he seen I was a permit holder at one time .(Expired by 3 1/2 yaers ) And I find this quite troubling that a deputy can use this for any reason to search you at any time , and that this permit doesnt come of your license .
The Deputy also stated that I must inform him if I am a concealed carry holder when he approaches my vehical .
Well, since it is expired for 3 1/2 years do I really have one ?
I told the deputy that I am not so required , but only if I am carring a weapon on me .
He once again disagreed with me .
So I made my point a little different , If I must inform you that I have the ability to carry a weapon but do not have such a weapon on me , it is no different then having a buisness card of someone in your wallet . It is no threat to anyone .
So beware ,if you have ever had a permit because there are those officers who think that it is there job to inforce laws that dont exist or make up such a story to make you think you are in the wrong .
A word of advise to those who carry . Know the laws inside and out before you deside to carry because one infraction can be turned into a federal offense .
This should be taken straight to a good lawyer, and sue the jerks. What do you think would happen if this city wound up with a Five Million dollar law suit in favor of Mr. Baillio? The phrase “appropriate inspection” by this slob and his brown shirts is more honestly rendered “Unconstitutional” warrant-less search.” We have the sharpest lawyers in the world and there are many of them I would think that would like a shot at this fat cat. I mean for crying out loud, the State Legislators who make the laws in that state, don’t have the authority to “Suspend Individual Rights”,they need to get involved in this! As mentioned earlier,[even the State Legislators can't “Suspend Individual Rights”]like this brother to Fat Albert thinks he can. So why isn’t someone taking the slob to court? The reason this slob is getting away with this trash is, no one is fighting him in a court of law. The “real” law is on the side of the law abiding American citizen, and every law abiding American citizen has the right to bear arms, that means he can have a gun. I don’t care what this jerk thinks he can do.
A murderous Muslim terrorist has more rights under our Constitution and the laws of this land than this idiot and his goons are giving their citizens, the people that pay their wages! The power is with the People of the city where this idiot lives. They are the ones that should kick him out of office. The power does is not with this moron mayor and his cops. I say, get a five million dollar law suit started against the City of Shreveport, Louisiana, and this Marxist slob, and when Mr. Baillio wins. What will happen? My guess is that the City of Shreveport will be telling Cedric Glover, that he is the late, unwanted, former Mayor of Shreveport Louisiana.
This is only the beginning of what is to come. Obama has already began to tear apart our Constitution and the people’s rights are not the priority of his administration.
This Mayor is just another Marxist liberal, who wants to socialize our country and like the Brown shirts of Germany, they fully intend to take the people’s guns, which will put them in a position of not being able to protect their homes and family when the government takes the final steps of taking control of our country. The mayor and his police should wear BROWN SHIRTS.!!!
Obama and the liberals are destroying our beloved America, as we sit and watch. I am a 64 year old [ Scotch/Irish/ Cherokee/British American] who has lived in and loved America all my life. I pray that those who love our country, will rise up and let those in power know that they cannot destroy our country from within. May GOD BLESS AMERICA
Supreme court decisions have already come out and said, that a person cannot sue the Federal Gov on a violation of their Constitutional rihts because, they are not a party to the Agreement ( that Agreement being the Constitution ) The Federal Const. is the Agreement between State Gov & The Fed Gov.
So the only thing you have to go on is your States Constitution!
Although I believe, the cop over steped his powers and you need to bring a suit against him for Treason to his office, and the Mayor
Sue them both in their Private & Public Capacities
As a retired police sgt, I am disgusted my brother officers would act in this manner. I would have rather resigned than behave in a manner I believed to be wrong and against my principals.
As most of you well know cops are told by their master what to do as most do not have the education to know the law. As my Law School professor said on the first day of class. “Police are not your friends, if they want to talk to you or your child, they are looking to close a case. It doesn’t matter if you are innocent or guilty, they are only interested in closing the case”. There are a few good officers out there, however like a bad apple in a bushel will spoil the whole bushel, so will a bad officer. From what I have read, this officer did not have “probable cause” to stop Mr. Baillio, and that carrying a weapon is not a crime in Louisana, therefore the officer committed a couple of 4th amendment violations. Mr. Baillio’s liberty was restricted, and he was deprived of his lawful ownership of his personal property. (To me that is the same as stealing and the officer, Mr. Glover, the cheif of police and possible others would be facing a Federal petition which would cost the defendants money, plus possible their jobs. Depending on the patriots located in Shreveport La.
My book “Misery Injustice” tells about the Judicial corruption in Missouri, however I don’t believe it has reached that level of Totalitarism as in Shreveport. Hopefully Mr. Baillio will get his gun back, and Mr. Glover will get booted. For all Americans that believe in Liberty and freedom, you have better get trained and prepared for war, because at the rate this country is tumbling down with the current administration, it won’t be long before the tyrants will be knocking at your door to lead you down the path of no return.
As Thomas Jefferson stated: “The tree of liberty needs to be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots, and the blood of tyrants”. — That time has come once again!
The officer gave him his gun back? Case closed.
You need to review the PROPER PROCEEDURES WHEN STOPPED BY POLICE in your CONCEALED CARRY CLASS. This proceedure is specificly explained to ALL licensees.
Something to the effect: “When stopped by police while driving your car, PLACE BOTH YOUR HANDS ON YOUR STEERING WHEEL, and when the officer approaches, IMMEDIATELT STATE, “OFFICER! I am bound by law to inform you that I am a CCW, “CHL or whatever alphabets your state uses”, AND I AM CARRYING!
THAT CLEARS YOU OF ANY ISSUES! That also alerts the officer that you are NOT one of the many dumb masses that roam the planet and that YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE AND PROFESSIONALLY TRAINED TO BE CARRYING THAT FIREARM.
You act stupid, the police act in kind. They win, you lose.
FOLLOW YOUR STATE’S PROCEEDURES that issued your CONCEALED CARRY LICENSE/PERMIT!

What part of “shall not be infringed” do thety not understand? Does the 2nd amendment have the word “unless’ in it anywhere? Example: The right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed UNLESS that gun is loaded, hidden, is in a car when a cop stops you, has a magazine with a capacity of 10 rounds or more, is black in color and is scary looking.” The cop in this story needs to be fired an dthat fat ass mayor needs to A) go on a fucking diet and B) get voted OUT!
At what point in time does the MAYOR of municipality control the police force charter in and by the STATE?
Does this not mean that the mayor of Shreveport has overriding power of the GOVERNOR of Louisiana? How would Bobby Jindall feel about that?
Mayor Glover,
How did you manage to get elected with an attitude on guns like you are demonstrating? I’ll bet you didn’t tell anyone about it before the election!
Thank you Dudley Brown and NAGR for being there and being vigilante. I’ve sent you two contributions this past week!

I agree wholeheartedly with Mr. Daniels. This country was founded on Christian principals for a reason. The Stars & Stripes were made for a reason. We the American people choose to reside & live here for a reason. This is our Country. My Ancestors are Native American, the only true Americans, & you see what the Government tried to do to them….Extermination. I hold no grudges or resentments against our Government, but I will no longer ignore the road we are headed down. It is not only my duty, but my God given right to protect that which is mine. So I will do anything within my power as a Native Born Texan & United States Citizen to accomplish our God given right. I have many Hispanic friends, many were Migrant workers back in the day, the difference is…they are United States Citizens. What is so hard about getting your Citizenship legally. My Grandfathers parents came from Ireland. They entered this great Country the same way people have been doing for generations. What is the problem?? It seems like a no-brainer to me. Uphold our laws, remain steadfast to our Constitution. Enforce what is right. These are simple things folks…They are founded on basic Spiritual principles. In God We Trust..I can only pray that we never lose this…Oh & the old saying, America, Love it or leave it still holds true. Don’t come to my soil & start hammering it. My Father & his Father & his Father fought & died for this great Country. So, if asked if I will stand up & defend my Rights…You damn right I will….I am an American & I am proud to live in this Great Country, one that God has blessed……
George W. Bush suspended the US Constitution and Bill of Rights in 1996. Thats why Obama refuses to present a birth certificate, but are there are so many crooked Liberal polititions in Washing DC that Obama gets away with it? On any election day, I will excercize my power to vote any Liberal idiot or any other type of an idiot out of office. Feel my voting muscle….
get the cops name. pay him a visit at his house. if he is going to take away my rights….i will take away a few of his!!!
The shreveports mans rights “MIGHT” have been mildly molested. Think about the patrolmans viewpoint. He’s pulling over a vehicle with gun propoganda all over it. The driver looks less than your run of the mill John Doe. The officer was protecting himself. The man pulled over even said the officer was very polite and professional and DID return the gun before the driver left. Read/ listen to the ENTIRE dialogue. I want our 2nd amendmant rights protected as much or more than the next person but if we go spouting off about minuscule instances it only strengthens the oppositions case. Choose our battles wisely and ingest the information and put our brains in gear before our mouths or fingers.
and btw YEAH CHARLIE REESE!!!!
I often wonder what part of ‘If you take away the honest mans gun, only the criminal will be armed’ these anti gun nuts don’t understand.
No law will dissuade crooks from obtaining fire arms. No lack of a fire arm will prevent a murderer from murdering.
But not having a gun can result in people being robed or raped or murdered, when they could have frightened away the robber, rapist, murderer. So you might say that the police who confiscate a citizens weapon, were aiding and abetting the robber, murderer, rapist.
And in this particular situation, the officer had no business pulling the citizen over. That is using muscle unnecessarily. It is disturbing and stressful to be pulled over by a thug for no reason. Having officers misuse their power that way creates a lack of trust in the police on the part of the citizen pulled over, and all his friends and neighbors who hear about it.
The officer should realize that he is not just pulling over one person. He is pulling over that person and all his friends and neighbors.
I don’t know how he could look less than run of the mill but the Mayor needs to be removed. The second amendment says the right shall be in no way infringed upon, period.
The entire contact has to be examined. A minor traffic stop is the most hazardous contact a Police Officer makes every day. The Officer does not know who the person is at the time of the contact and has the ability, due to Officer Safety, to secure weapons for the duration of the contact. It is not only smart, but in the safety interest of the Citizen and the Police Officer, who I might add, is most likely a very vocal conservative patriot and friend to all law abiding gun owners, as well as a gun owner themself. Make no mistake, there are Officers who abuse their powers, however, they typically dont last long in Law Enforcement because they are frowned upon, and ran out by the good cops. In truth, the overwhelming majority of all Police are pro gun, pro 2nd amendment, pro American, and will stand with the law abiding gun owner when things go sideways, as will our soldiers. We are not card carrying yes mams and armed tax collectors, and the majority of us would quit if we were forced into that. We should be looking to the criminals who have made it necessary to take certain safety precautions in order to see to it that the Officer goes home to his family at the end of shift, and is able to return to shift tomorrow to protect our communities from the real threat. The majority of Officers are very frustrated at laws, specifically case laws that protect the criminal more than the law abiding citizen, but are implemented in the guise of protecting the law abiding citizen. These laws make it increasingly difficult to Police effectively. Good Officers are frustrated by other officers who make poor decisions and cause bad case law to be created. Many people have the issues backwards in this realm, and should spend serious time in a ride along program, or even better, volunteer their time with their local Police Dept as a reserve officer, and actually work some shifts and see the other side of life, which is advancing rapidly, and threatening our way of life. The Law Abiding citizen has nothing to fear from the Police, and if they truly understood what the officer does for their individual rights, and freedoms, would love to have a beer with them on Friday, and would see him for what he truly is, a Patriot, and friend to all law abiding gun owners across this country. I have heard it many, many, many times from working officers, who tell me that they would prefer to respond to a crime scene and clean up a bad guy, than respond and clean up a family of 4 who was unable to defend their loved ones. Make no mistake, we are overwhelmed, and understaffed, and are typically unable to respond in time to prevent the worst. We typically are there to clean up the mess, and see that justice is served for the now deceased or injured good citizen. There is no conspiracy plot among working cops to take any guns from law abiding citizens. There are people in command positions who do not always reflect the beliefs and opinions of the working cop, because they are now politicians, rather than civil service protected Police Officers who come from the street. Who is your Sheriff? An elected official. Who is your Police Chief? An official appointed by an elected official (mayor or commisson) to manage and run the Police Dept. Some are very good and understand the issues. Others are not so desireable among the officers, or our communities, and do not understand, or have forgotten over years of admin service, what it takes to protect people, protect their rights, and to stay safe on the street. Most Mayors have little understanding of criminal law, criminal procedure, and constitutionally protected rights, as it applies to street level law enforcement, and should not interject their musings about a situation when they lack the understanding and experience of the street. When they do, they show their true colors as a politician. It makes proper and wise procedure, and good cops look bad. The individual officer will be chastised by other officers, or even investigated internally, as it is not looked on favorably by other officers when another goes sideways, or badge heavy, and rights are violated. The rest of us pay for it dearly, and it is wrong. Young, gung ho officers typically, but not always, mature with experience, and guidance, and are, with time, able to determine when extreme measures, and minor measures are necessary to stay safe. If they dont mature properly, they typically find another line of work, either by choice, forced choice, or termination. A minor traffic infraction, an honest driver who advised the officer of the weapon, and a lawful concealed carry permit holder is the preferred contact in all honesty, and likely could have been remedied by placing his hands on the steering wheel where they could be seen by the officer, but I dont have all of the facts surrounding the contact, and cannot make an informed judgement on it. My educated guess is that some of this information only came out after the officer secured the weapon for safety, which would make sense based on how the dynamics of a traffic stop typically go. The interpretation of the bumper stickers leading to the rest of the story concerns me, as I would see someone with these stickers as a likely friend, and likely not a threat, however, safety is the priority, and there are many documented threats to officers surrounding this type of situation. In addition, in my 13 years of Law Enforcement, and 8 years as a bail agent prior to becoming an officer, it is becoming far more common for local drug dealers, primarily oxycontin dealers, and marijuana dealers, to have valid concealed carry permits. Many of these permits were issued prior to these people engaging in criminal activity, or at least prior to being caught, and obviously are revoked after they have been convicted of various prohibitive crimes. Furthermore, I have been personally involved in incidents where otherwise law abiding, and concealed carry permit holders in good standing, have lost their minds due to various life situations, alcohol, drugs, depression, and other mental illness, and have led officers on very dangerous chases, ending in, typically, suicide. It is sad, but you just dont friggin know who you are dealing with. As for me, I will continue to uphold my oath of office and protect the rights of the citizens, their lives, their livelihood, their property, and our American way of life, til death if I am called. My highest honor to all of those who have honorably served before me, and who currently serve our great country with honor in both law enforcement, and in our military. We can take this country back with our vote, and show the enemies of our way of life that the Constitution is our sacred document, and will be protected against ALL enemys, foreign AND domestic.
In my opinion a person should be able to own a tank and park it in their yard. In the revolutionary war the musket was state of the art and every man had the right to own the state of the art firearm in order to defend himself. The idea that we as US citizens should have the right to bear arms means that we have the right to posses the latest and greatest that technology has to offer in the defense of our person our family and our country. It was this freedom that gave independence to our country. These minute men that came running to the call of freedom and the defense of these rights brought their own weapons. The government did not provide them. If these minute men had been deprived of their right to bear arms or own these weapons there would have been no revolutionary war as the British, the government, would have quelled anyone that insisted on their personal freedom and slaughtered those that refused to bow to the powers that be as the government would have been the only ones to have weapons. The right to bear arms creates a society of freedom and respect for individuals and the reason is obvious. As for me and my house we are protected by Smith & Wesson, Colt, Winchester, and Beretta just to name a few. If you want to take my guns away from me it will be from my cold dead hands. Take guns away from the citizens then the only people that will have guns are the criminals. Remember people kill people not guns.
The government is forbidden by the constitution from trying to take away our right to own, possess and carry guns. Do people not realize that our employees in the government can be arrested and prosecuted for violating our right to carry weapons? The civil rights laws work just as well for “white” people as they did for “black” people in the late ’50s and ’60s. Anybody who seriously advocates taking away our right to carry weapon is guilty of conspiring to violate our rights, and they can be arrested for it. This cop violated the man’s rights, and the mayor was an accomplice. I don’t see a problem with charging them. If we throw some of these people in jail, the rest will think twice before they start it again.
Taking guns away from law-biding citzens does not take the guns away from the bad which by the way will still get and have. Our crooked lying decietfull govenment is doing all it can to take away as many rights as they can. WE ARE NOT A SOCIALIST COUNTRY well then again we are heading that way. I have gun stickers on my jeep its called FREEDOM OF SPEECH. I am not threating anyone Im simply expressiing MY RIGHTS, THATS RIGHT “MY RIGHTS” TO SPEAK AND BARE ARMS. Anyone on here can bash the me all they want but I am right. Our constititon will not be much longer NOBAMA will make darn sure of that. Oh and yes I am a girl, I am in the NRA and many other groups. I cannot change anything alone but if we’d all grow some balls together and stand for our RIGHTS we can change this. If this does not get changed there will be civil war in OUR country here in the USA……
SureShot and yes I got it from my gun shooting skills and knife throwing skills. Just simply a nickname since I was about five that was when I starting shooting and throwing on my own.
Good luck.

My opinion: The cop was protecting his arse, the man was protecting his rights, and the mayor is full of sh**. Although personally, I would have conducted the conversation differently. Cops are trained for the event that someone pulls a gun. I understand pre-emptive measures like asking the individual to place the firearm on the dash-board as far away as possible from himself as possible, or knowing where the firearm is and watching if the individual reaches for it (that’s if I were a cop, anyways)… but having someone outside, confiscating a firearm INSIDE the vehicle, and holding on to it is… a WEE BIT EXCESSIVE. Just asking the guy to stay outside the vehicle (and as a result, out of reach of the firearm) while they conversed or whatever is enough. Actually, if I were a cop, that’s what I’d do. Ask the person to stand outside and smoke a cigarette with me while we conducted our business. No worries about unreasonable search and seizure, no worries about firearms going off in your general direction… It’s a win-win situation.
But that mayor… That guy is an alright orator… but is seriously lacking in his knowledge of the law. I get the point he was making, but he was not getting the point that (what was his name again?) was making. It seemed like he would rather continue on his self righteous monologue before hearing what (whatshisname) had to say…
CHEERS!
The bill of rights isn’t up for grabs. No person can take these rights away. Remember your rights come fron God not the goverment.
I understand the police have a hard job,but this is an abuse of power. If an officer has concerns about a stop he should get back up. Also if the driver isn’t acting odd or violent there’s no reason for such a search. If he was an illegal I bet they wouldn’t of even stopped him. This is bull crap and no way should we put up with it.
No doubt that the mayor is a obama-holder supporter. I good lawyer would be all over that whole situation. This is just a small taste of whats trying to come over the horizon. obama hates guns, hillary hates guns, and holder hates guns….but most importantly, the UN hates the fact the we still have guns. It is more important than ever to stand up for our rights and the constitution. The fat a** mayor should be removed from office and the cop put on something he can handle like desk duty or maybe even more challenging, like flipping burgers at macdoanlds, he might find that suit his taste better. Have we had enough yet? Keep your powder dry fella’s.
