Arizona Mother Holds Intruder at Gunpoint Until Police Arrive

TEMPE, AZ – An Arizona mother of two defended herself and her family from a violent criminal during a home invasion last week.

Anthony Chambers was on the run from Arizona police when he forced his way into the woman’s apartment just as she was locking her door. According to ABC15 News, Chambers tried to keep her quiet, asking her to pretend he was her boyfriend.

"I asked him to wait in the living room because my first instinct was to go grab my gun because I just need to protect everyone else. I hid it behind my pants," she said.

Chambers asked for a knife, explaining he was being chased. But when the woman refused and tried to call the police, he became violent.

Unable to de-escalate the situation, the woman pulled out her gun and aimed it straight at Chambers, forcing him out of the apartment where police were waiting for him.

Chambers was taken into custody and charged with two counts of aggravated assault, three counts of kidnapping, and six other felonies.

Because of her calmness in the face of danger - and her nearby gun - the woman was able to protect herself and her children from a likely violent ending.
