Washington D.C - This morning, President Donald Trump held a press conference and advocated for new gun control stating, “I have called for ‘Red Flag’ [gun confiscation] laws.”

Boasting about his gun control credentials, Trump cited his administration banning “bump stocks” and signing a massive funding increase in 2018 for the National Instant Criminal Background Check system, the “FIX-NICS” bill.

Additionally, Trump took to Twitter earlier in the day to encourage Republicans and Democrats to come together and “get strong background checks,” seemingly advocating for Universal Brady Registration.

“You cannot infringe on the gun rights of millions of law-abiding Americans based on the actions of lawless madmen,” said Dudley Brown, President of the National Association for Gun Rights.

“Let me be crystal clear, forcing Universal Brady Checks and Red Flag gun confiscation laws on Americans would have done nothing to stop either of these murderers. They went through the failed and unconstitutional NICS system,” said Brown.

The National Association for Gun Rights opposes any and all gun control legislation and stands ready to hold President Trump and all elected officials responsible for their actions, regardless of party.

“We will let our members and supporters know how their elected officials vote -- just like we did back in 2013 when they tried to pass gun control during the Obama years,” said Brown.

The National Association for Gun Rights is the nation's second largest pro-gun organization, with 4.5 million members and supporters nationwide.
