Legal Analyst

The legal analyst for the National Foundation for Gun Rights is responsible for providing support for key in-house legal services and functions for NFGR and its affiliated entities, including the National Association for Gun Rights and its subsidiaries.

This full-time permanent position is based out of NFGR’s headquarters in Loveland, Colorado.

The job of legal analyst requires strong written and verbal communications skills, and must be a self-starter who is motivated to take on new tasks and not let go of assignments or projects until they’re completed.

Strong knowledge of federal firearms statutes and regulations (or the ability to become familiar with such laws and regulations) is a must. Familiarity with state level firearms statutes and regulations, (or the ability to become familiar with them) is strongly preferred.

The legal analyst must be conversant in (or have an aptitude for) legal affairs. Understanding of the legislative and executive branches of government is also desired.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

The legal analyst for the National Foundation for Gun Rights is responsible for providing key support for in-house legal services and functions, such as:

  • Performing legal and legislative research;

  •  Monitor firearms-related litigation in cases around the country;

  • Assisting with the vetting of potential cases the foundation may have interest in;

  • Legal proofreading

  • Drafting and reviewing legal and research memorandums;

  • Managing or assisting affiliated entities with regulatory or legal compliance needs;

  • Reviewing legislation, issues and amendments;

  • Screening, interviewing, and interfacing with current and potential lawsuit plaintiffs;

  • Draft legal updates for website publication;

  • Marketing copywriting;

  • Completing special projects and other assigned tasks.

A legal analyst may also be asked to:

  • Assist in, develop or conduct educational presentations for staff on firearms law;

  • Attending legislative committee meetings and answering technical and legal questions concerning legislation or federal and state statutes as needed;

  • Work one-on-one with other staff or groups to help them develop and enhance their knowledge of firearms laws;

Salary Range: $40,000/yr to $55,000/yr depending on qualifications
