2A Legacy Society Planned Giving

GarryMiller

Virtually all National Association for Gun Rights’ members I talk to are already committed to doing what they can to ensure our Second Amendment freedoms survive in America.

They understand the grave threat the Gun Control Lobby, anti-gun politicians, and the national media all pose.

They understand we all have a duty to pass on the freedoms we’ve enjoyed to future generations, just as our forefathers fought for us.

But some supporters I talk to just don’t always know the best way they can make an impact, where to start, or what makes the most sense for them — especially when it comes to making Legacy Gifts.

Please know that, if you want to protect our Second Amendment freedoms, I’m here to help — whether that’s talking with you on the phone, corresponding with you over email, or even working directly with your estate planner if you’d like.

Because we’re asked by our members how to use 2A Legacy giving in order to make an impact for our gun rights, I’ve included some information in the following pages about joining our 2A Legacy Society that I hope you’ll find useful.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at: (970) 833-5211. Or, if you prefer, you can email me at gary.miller@gunrights.org.

As with all donor communications, all information you provide about Planned Giving is held in the strictest confidence.

I’d love to chat with you and welcome you to our 2A Legacy Society!

Sincerely,

Gary Miller

Adding National Association for Gun Rights to Your Will

Your Last Will and Testament is the ultimate statement of what matters most to you, the people you love and the values and principles you hold dear.

That is why many freedom-loving Americans choose to include National Association for Gun Rights in their estate planning.

In fact, it’s where most members of our 2A Legacy Society start!

This isn’t just a financial exercise and no bequest is too small. Every bequest is greatly and humbly appreciated.

And we are truly honored by those who choose to make an impact for freedom by joining our 2A Legacy Society as each and every one of these gifts is a testament to our members’ passion.

If you are ready to include National Association for Gun Rights in your will, there are three simple ways to do so with sample language below:

  • OPTION #1: Make a Simple Bequest of a Specific Amount

“I give and bequeath to National Association for Gun Rights of 2300 W. Eisenhower Blvd, Loveland, CO 80537 the sum of $_________, to be used as the organization determines.”

  • OPTION #2: Make a Certain Percentage Bequest of Your Estate

“I give and bequeath to National Association for Gun Rights of 2300 W. Eisenhower Blvd, Loveland, CO 80537 ___% of the total value of my estate to be used as the organization determines.”

  • OPTION #3: Make a Residual Bequest of the Remainder of Your Estate

“I give and bequeath to National Association for Gun Rights of 2300 W. Eisenhower Blvd, Loveland, CO 80537 the rest, residue, and remainder residual of my estate, to be used as the organization determines.”

Should you prefer to include National Foundation for Gun Rights in your will instead of the National Association for Gun Rights, simply replace the organization’s name in your text of your will.

Adding NAGR as a Beneficiary to Your Retirement Accounts and/or Life Insurance Policy

Many people are surprised to learn that adding National Association for Gun Rights as a beneficiary to their IRA, other retirement account, or life insurance policy is even easier than amending their will.

It generally requires just your signature and the Association’s designation on a beneficiary form.

While we always advise discussing your options with your estate planner and/or accountant, leaving your IRA to non-profits like National Association for Gun Rights and reserving more tax-favorable assets for heirs could prove to be a wise way to join our 2A Legacy Society.

As a non-profit, National Association for Gun Rights does not pay Income Taxes when it sells your assets, so 100% of your gift will go directly to our programs to protect and defend the Second Amendment.

Likewise, some donors choose to make National Association for Gun Rights the beneficiary of paid-up life insurance policies that have outlived their original purpose.

Making gifts of appreciated stock

Rather than giving cash contributions, many of our supporters prefer to directly transfer shares of appreciated stock in joining our 2A Legacy Society.

This is a smart strategy for donors who would owe a Capital Gains Tax upon sale of the shares.

Instead of selling the shares, paying Capital Gains Taxes which help fund anti-gun government entities like the ATF, and then using what is left of the proceeds to make contributions, simply give the shares directly to National Association for Gun Rights.

As non-profits, neither National Association for Gun Rights, nor National Foundation for Gun Rights pays Income or Capital Gains Taxes when it sells your shares.

This way, 100% of your stock gift will go directly to our programs to protect and defend the Second Amendment.

Should you choose to give it in this way, wiring instructions are available upon request.

Scheduling a visit

We understand many of these options are deeply personal and must be made very carefully.

Your impact in the 2A Legacy Society

We at National Association for Gun Rights are deeply humbled and greatly appreciative for your consideration in our 2A Legacy Giving program. Becoming a part of your legacy and the trust you place in us as a “No Compromise Defender of the Second Amendment” is not something we take lightly.

As mentioned earlier, everyone at National Association for Gun Rights understands that decisions about estate planning are immensely private to some people.

As with all donor communications, any information you do choose to share with us will always remain strictly confidential.

However, we would like the opportunity to honor and thank those patriots who choose to support us in this way.

If you do choose to include us in your 2A Legacy Society giving, please don’t hesitate to let us know!

But regardless of how you choose to handle these matters, you can rest easy knowing that your support is making an impact for the values and beliefs you hold dear.

And you have peace of mind knowing that your gifts — combined with the contributions of other pro-gun patriots around this country — will keep the flame of liberty burning in America for future generations.

The Gun Rights Family of Organizations

Needless to say, tax implications are always high on the list for many donors who are considering making planned gifts.

When you’re considering making a Planned Gift and joining our 2A Legacy Society, you may want to discuss with your accountant and/or estate planner the difference between the two organizations in our Gun Rights family and discuss whether you’d like to give to one organization, the other, or both.
