National Association for Gun Rights Vehemently Opposes New York’s Bill to Ban Glock Devices

Jun 5, 2024

Albany, NY – The National Association for Gun Rights has issued a formal cease and desist letter to the New York Senate Codes Committee regarding the proposed bill to amend the penal law related to pistol converters and convertible pistols.

“New York State has gone further than any other state in enacting gun control, but this bill takes it one step further to ban an entire manufacturer from the state essentially,” said Angelo Veltri, Northeast Regional Director for the National Association for Gun Rights.

The bill, S.9225, currently under consideration by the Codes Committee, seeks to expand the definition of a “machine gun” to include any semi-automatic pistol equipped with a so-called “pistol converter,” and to criminalize the possession, manufacture, and transport of such devices.

It also introduces the term “convertible pistol,” which would categorize many commonly owned firearms as potential machine guns merely based on their design.

“New York has been a breeding ground for radical gun control around the country and this bill will only embolden more states to expand their infringement on our gun rights,” emphasized Dudley Brown, President of the National Association for Gun Rights.

The National Association for Gun Rights remains actively engaged in opposing this bill by calling on its members to contact their State Senator to oppose S.9225 and striving for an outcome that adheres to the Second Amendment.

The National Association for Gun Rights is the nation’s largest “no compromise” pro-gun organization, with 4.5 million members nationwide.
